Notes for Sunday:
- Mark Buehrle struggles on the road (2-4, 5.71 ERA) and hasn't handled Tampa very well in the past. Tampa hits .336 against him as a team.
- If I told you the Royals hit .366 as a team against any pitcher, you'd probably laugh. But they do very well against Paul Byrd. Byrd has struggled on the road all season, sporting an ERA over six and an opponents batting average of .296. While Brian Bannister has struggled, he's very good at home and pitched well in his last outing against Cleveland.
- Jon Garland has been better, but he doesn't have success against Toronto. Leave him alone this time out. AJ Burnett, on the other hand, owns Anaheim. Vlad Guerrero is 7-37 lifetime, but does have two home runs against him. Torii Hunter hits only .100. Burnett is a good option here, especially given his relative success on the road (3.08, .227 BAA)
- I'm a big Hiroki Kuroda guy, but he didn't have much success against the Mets his last time out. I'd be careful with him here and use another option if you have one available. He goes up against Johan Santana, and that's a match up I'd want to avoid.
- The Tigers all have good numbers against Miguel Batista.
- Spot starts? Andrew Miller, Braden Looper, Jamie Moyer, and Sidney Ponson in that order
