Apollo Crews vs. Sheamus Announced for WWE Money in the Bank 2016 PPV

Danny WebsterJun 13, 2016

Apollo Crews will make his pay-per-view debut Sunday.

Crews' first rivalry since he was called up to the main roster will come to a head at WWE Money in the Bank, where he will take on Sheamus at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, WWE announced Monday.

Crews has been a target of Sheamus' attacks since the start of this new era of WWE.

Before Crews took on Chris Jericho in a Money in the Bank qualifying match, Sheamus attacked him. Jericho eventually won and clinched a spot in the ladder match:

Since then, The Celtic Warrior and Crews have been at odds with each other. The Big Show even gave Crews advice on how to handle veterans such as Sheamus the following week:

This rivalry has been lacking in excitement, mainly because of WWE's inability to develop Crews' character since his call-up to the main roster. His microphone skills still need some work, especially when he's working with a former WWE world heavyweight champion such as Sheamus.

That was evident in this past week's SmackDown, when Crews approached Sheamus and delivered a lethargic right hand to his face:

Crews is fun to watch in the ring. He and Sheamus should put on a solid technical match for the better part of 10 minutes, most likely on the pre-show because of WWE's infatuation with putting matches on the pre-show.

The match points in favor of Crews because he needs it more. Sheamus wouldn't gain any momentum by winning the match, and it's a feud that could go up to SummerSlam. For the betterment of Crews' character, he needs wins in matches like this.
