Louis van Gaal Grabs Reporter's Hair After Manchester United vs. Leicester City

Stuart NewmanMay 1, 2016

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal defended midfielder Marouane Fellaini by pulling a journalist’s hair following his side’s 1-1 draw with Leicester City on Sunday.

Fellaini once again found himself at the heart of an aggressive exchange during the clash at Old Trafford, as he and Leicester defender Robert Huth got a little too close for comfort.

Huth was grabbing the Belgian’s hair while jostling for position at a corner, and Fellaini reacted by lashing out with his elbow, per MailOnline:

Yet when Van Gaal was asked to comment on the situation, he reacted by asking the reporter how he’d feel in such a situation and pulling on his hair, as journalist Kristof Terreur revealed:

However, the United boss did concede that in certain situations, hair pulling is allowed, via Bleacher Report:

Once the Dutchman got his hands back to himself, he said that Fellaini shouldn’t be given a ban for the fracas with Huth, as his reaction was “human,” per Matt Dickinson of The Times:

Van Gaal may have been a little frustrated after seeing his side draw with Leicester, as the outcome looks to have derailed United’s top-four ambitions.

And the Dutchman himself conceded that getting into next season’s Champions League could be out of the club’s reach, per Dickinson:

United take on struggling Norwich City at Carrow Road when the Premier League returns on May 7.
