Stephen Curry Injury Update: Warriors Star Comments on Status for Game 3

Joe PantornoApr 19, 2016

Golden State Warriors fans can relax a bit after star guard Stephen Curry spoke with the media about his injured ankle, per Marcus Thompson II of the Mercury News on Tuesday.

"Yeah I'm playing," the reigning NBA MVP said. "I'll put it like this: I don't see any scenario where I am not playing."

After injuring his right ankle in Game 1, Curry sat out Monday night's Game 2 against the Houston Rockets, one the Warriors went on to win anyway, 115-106. Game 3 isn't until Thursday night, so Curry has time to make sure his ankle is good to go.

Later on Tuesday, the Warriors revealed an update after an MRI that should make everyone in Oakland breathe even easier, as there wasn't "anything of concern," per GSWStats:

However, this is something that needs to be closely monitored, as Curry has undergone two surgeries on his right ankle, most recently in 2012.

Since then, he's become the face of the NBA with his record-setting three-point shooting ability and ball-handling skills.

If there is any chance that Curry could reinjure the ankle, then he should sit until it's 100 percent. There's no use in risking his short- and long-term future on a series the Warriors, already up 2-0, look like they will breeze through.
