TEXAS TEAM NOTES
Texas’ 47 points in the first half is the most in a half since taking a 52-0 lead against Kansas on Nov. 12, 2005. It marked the first time UT scored 40 or more points in a first half since scoring 41 against Rice on September 22, 2007.
Texas amassed 300 or more rushing yards and 300 or more passing yards in a game for just the second time in school history. The only other time Texas accomplished the feat was against Houston in 1990.
Texas rushed for 244 yards on 27 carries in the second half.
Texas allowed just 53 yards, the fewest yards allowed by a UT defense since 1990.
Texas allowed just nine rushing yards and has yielded a combined three rushing yards over the last two games.
Vondrell McGee
McGee logged his first career 100-yard rushing game.
McGee’s 51-yard rush in the third quarter was a career long.
McGee’s 23-yard TD run was his second of the season and the 14th of his career.D.J. Monroe
With Monroe’s 91-yard kickoff return for a TD, he became the first player in school history to return two kickoffs for TDs in a career.
Jordan Shipley
Shipley became the first player in school history to record 10 or more receptions in back-to-back games. His 21 receptions in the last two games was two shy of his own record of 23 set against Missouri (8) and Oklahoma State (15) last season.
Shipley recorded 10 or more receptions for the second consecutive game and the fifth time in his career.
Earl Thomas
Thomas’ two INTs gave him three for the season and five for his career.
It marked Thomas’ second two-INT game. He also snagged INTs in last year against Oklahoma.
Colt McCoy
McCoy became the 15th player in NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision history to amass over 12,000 yards of total offense in a career. He passed Brady Quinn (11,944), Byron Leftwich (12,084) and Chris Redman (12,129) to move into 13th place on the career list with 12,161 yards.
McCoy ended the game with 1,284 career rushing yards passing Terry Orr (1,279) and Priest Holmes (1,276) for 30th place on the Texas career rushing list.
