Raiders Reportedly Have Agreement with Osemele

Tuesday, March 8

Rand Getlin of NFL Network reported Osemele and the Oakland Raiders "have an agreement in principle" and the lineman will join the team when free agency starts Wednesday. Getlin noted the deal will "blow the top off of the [offensive guard] market," adding it's a "huge get" for the Raiders.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the deal will make Osemele "one of the five highest paid OL - including tackles" in the league, adding it will be worth more than $11 million per year.

Earlier, Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports reported the Raiders were "making a strong push" for Osemele, going so far as to call them the favorites.

Garafolo also mentioned a potential deal between the two sides would be for more than $10 million per year.

Vikings Linked to Osemele

Tuesday, March 8

Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported there was "no way" the Vikings would have signed Osemele at $10 million-plus, given Matt Kalil's deal would give them two such linemen.

On Monday, Getlin reported the Minnesota Vikings were "surging" for Osemele.

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole, citing sources, reported Osemele is receiving interest from multiple teams and could command $12 million per year:

Osemele Will Test Open Market

Monday, March 7

Getlin reported Osemele will "'100 percent' be testing the market," adding the guard will "be among the hottest free agents available."

On Feb. 29, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported, "Osemele [is] expected to hit [the] market at this point," citing sources. Wilson added Osemele won't remain in Baltimore unless he becomes the highest-paid guard in football.

Conflicting Reports Surround Ravens' Interest in Osemele

Monday, March 7

Cole reported the Ravens have "limited interest" in bringing Osemele to Baltimore, adding the Ravens "don't want to guarantee much" and will "pay year by year."

That report differs from what Rapoport reported on Feb. 25, when he said the Ravens are ready to make Osemele the second-highest-paid offensive player on the team behind quarterback Joe Flacco.

Osemele Poised to Land Big Contract in Free Agency

Osemele, a Pro Football Focus second-team All-Pro in 2014, made $846,000 last year and is in line for a huge raise given his stature in the market.

The 26-year-old is the highest-ranking guard on Pro Football Talk's Free Agent Hot 100 list, and Pro Football Talk's Curtis Crabtree noted Osemele "could be a highly sought-after commodity with so many teams struggling to put together strong fronts."
