Regardless of how the 2009-2010 Houston Rockets season ends, at least we have one of the best—as well as one of the most underrated—players to ever don an NBA uniform.

No, not T-Mac.

Not Yao.

Give up? I’ll give you a hint—he went to Duke.

That’s right—the one and only Shane Battier—the true backbone to the Rockets basketball team.

The new-look Rockets are going to be a lot quicker and more explosive than prior Houston teams.

I’m looking forward to it, no matter what our final record is—we’ve got great chemistry with our current team and the new additions may be just what the doctor ordered when it comes to the Rockets bringing a title back to Houston.

Remember those days with Rudy T, the Dream, and young guys like Sammy Cassell?

We can return to those glory days and we’re on the right track.

But it’s going to take some time—as well as some growing pains.

We’re not going to be in first-place come season’s end; and we very well may not even make the playoffs.

However, we have a great coach and a great team.

And a great core with Battier at the middle…
