Week three turned out to be a wild one, I was jumping out of my seat at every turn of each game. There were some great games this weekend and some great finishes. So here are this weeks thoughts and observations of week three.
Watching the Miami(FL) and GA Tech game on Thursday, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that tech would walk in and have another victory. Wow!, was I wrong or what? Miami came out to play, and play they did. I think it is safe to say that the swagger is coming back to the U. So ACC beware, the days of kicking Miami around are over. And for that, college football is better.
On friday we were offered a mid-major treat with Boise State and Fresno State going head to head out in Fresno. Really not a lot to say, Fresno put up a good fight and hung tough. But in the end Boise was too strong and solidified their shot at earning another BCS spot.
For the morning games on Saturday, the Minnesota vs. California game was the best of the morning. Cal ran off to what would be thought of as a rout. But the Gophers of Minnesota came back and made a game of it. While Cal was the victor of this game, I think everyone who watched it earned a respect of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Big Ten better be on notice, theses scrappy guys could cause some fits and ruin some teams chances at winning the confrence
I was thinking Tulsa had the team and the strength to pull off the upset in Norman. But the freshman led Oklahoma Sooners came out and just ran all over Tulsa. But the game might have been different had Tulsa not given away multiple oppertunities on a short field. The Freshman looked good and poised,Which may be scary to future opponents knowing he takes the reigns next year.
I really can't believe Oregon upste Utah. I never would have picked this in a million years, espcially after they way they played Boise State. College Football is a funny game.
I picked the Washington upset of USC. and it is a good day when the trojans get beat. They are just one of those teams that you love to hate. and I do hate them with a passion.
The night cap was the Texas vs Texas Tech game. While the longhorns started slow and McCoy looked uneasy at the begining. The second half lived up to the billing and made the game fun to watch. McCoy finished with good numbers agian and still looks like a front runner for the Heisman Trophy. But they will have to quit starting so slow if they want to keep the undefeated season hopes alive.
Looking forward to more games next weekend. Till then enjoy the NFL.
