Jaguars Need Yeldon Healthy to Boost Backfield
Yeldon has shared running back duties with free-agent acquisition Chris Ivory so far this season, and he is producing to the tune of 285 yards and one touchdown in his second NFL campaign. He recorded 16 yards on four carries against the Lions before leaving due to the injury.
The former Alabama standout appeared in and started 12 games as a rookie, racking up 1,019 total yards and three touchdowns.
Jacksonville was careful to limit his touches as a rookie in favor of a pass-heavy attack featuring quarterback Blake Bortles, but it was still difficult for Yeldon to avoid the injury bug.
While the Jags do have a dynamic enough passing game to have offensive success if Yeldon is limited moving forward, establishing the run to some degree is still important. That burden would fall on Ivory again, who found success against Detroit.
Yeldon will have to find a way to stay healthy moving forward in order to fulfill his potential, but there is no question that the talent is present.
