Josh Hamilton went two for five with three runs, a double, a grand slam, and five RBI. Hunter Pence went five for five with a double, and two RBI. Johnny Damon went four for five with two runs, two doubles, a HR, and three RBI. Albert Pujols went four for four with a solo HR. Kevin Millar went three for three with two runs, a double, two HRs, and three RBI.
Franklin Gutierrez hit a grand slam. Adam Dunn also had four RBI. Adam LaRoche, Mark Teahan, Manny Ramirez, and Bengie Molina each had three RBI. Jason Bay and Lance Berkman each scored three Runs. Jack Wilson, Jay Bruce (MLB debut), Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Brandon Boggs (three RBI), Ryan Braun, J.J. Hardy, Kazuo Matsui, Seth Smith, Melvin Mora, Ramon Hernandez, Alexi Casilla, Justin Morneau, Michael Cuddyer, Miguel Olivo, and Garrett Anderson each had three hits.
Ervin Santana pitched a complete game, allowing two runs on three hits with seven Ks to improve to 7-2 with a 3.09 ERA. Aaron Laffey gave up one earned run in six innings to improve to 3-3 with a 1.59 ERA. Sean Gallagher (seven innings, four hits, one run) outdueled Hiroki Kuroda (six-and-one-third innings, one earned run). Vincente Padilla got roughed up a little bit (five runs in six innings), but he did strike out 10 and improve his record to 7-3 with a 3.67 ERA.
Tim Hudson (eight innings, two runs, six Ks) and Dave Bush (seven innings, two runs) took no-decisions in their battle. Shawn Chacon allowed two runs in seven innings with seven Ks to improve to 2-0 with a 3.95 ERA. Kyle Kendrick went seven-and-one-third innings allowing two runs with five Ks to improve to 4-2.
Randy Wolf gave up two runs in six innings in a no-decision. Nick Blackburn gave up two runs in an eight-and-one-third-inning no-decision. Greg Smith tossed six scoreless innings to improve to 3-4 with a 2.84 ERA. Miguel Batista gave up two earned runs in a seven-inning no-decision.
