Dario Saric's Father Says Forward Will Play for 76ers Next Year

Joe PantornoDec 4, 2015

The Philadelphia 76ers received some good news Wednesday in the midst of a terrible 1-19 start to the 2015-16 NBA season. According to scout Vedran Modric, who spoke with the father of 2014 first-round pick Dario Saric, the Croatian forward will play for the team next season.

Saric, who was drafted 12th overall by the Orlando Magic and quickly traded to the Sixers, is playing for Anadolu Efes of the Turkish Basketball Super League, where he is under a three-year contract.

But according to CBS Sports' Matt Moore, his contract will give him an opportunity to opt out and join Philadelphia next season.

This year, Saric has recorded 11.9 points per game while shooting over 58 percent from the floor and 45 percent from three-point range through eight games.

At 6'10", Saric looks set to join a core of young 76ers big men that includes second-year man Nerlens Noel, rookie Jahlil Okafor and the injury-riddled Joel Embiid.

If Philadelphia is able to get all of its players onto the court next seasonand if Saric's European prowess can carry over to the NBAthe 76ers might not be fastened to the bottom of the standings for long.
