Bowman Ruled Out for Season

The 49ers announced Monday that Bowman's campaign was over because of an Achilles injury.
On Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the "initial fear" was a torn Achilles.
Bowman Injury Is Devastating Blow to 49ers Defense
Bowman was one of few bright spots for the 49ers in 2015. The 28-year-old, who missed the 2014 season while recovering from a torn ACL suffered in the 2013 NFC Championship Game, started every game in his first season back and led the NFL with 154 tackles.
There were some signs that Bowman was still working his way back, though. Pro Football Focus gave the four-time All-Pro a minus-five grade in pass coverage through the first five weeks of last season, via ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez.
The 49ers' depth at inside linebacker will be tested with Bowman out. Nick Bellore, Michael Wilhoite and Shayne Skov are listed as the backups at the position.
San Francisco has recently developed young players on defense like Eli Harold, Arik Armstead and DeForest Buckner, though Buckner injured his foot against the Cowboys.
