Sports Are Our Life, and an Integral Part of Community
Whenever you get the newspaper in the morning, the first section you turn to is either comics or sports. Well, I turn to the comics, but that's just me.
24 hours a day, 365 days a year (unless a leap year), a sport is being played. Let it be from football to REAL football, people just love sports. Sports play a huge part in our everyday lives.
In the fall, every Sunday and Monday, what sports do you watch? Football, of course! More people watch American Football than American Idol and American Gladiators, combined. That'sĀ a lotĀ of couch potatoes!

Fun Fact: Did you know that every house in America has at least one child that is playing a sport. From chess to kick-boxing, people are a part of the sporting community.
In the winter, basketball is definitely one of the most popular sports played. This sport is so popular that people bet on college teams to win a game! Some people even bet their life savings on just one game.
Fun Fact: Did you know that more people in America play basketball than football? It's because basketball is a co-ed sport. Even though football is somewhat of a sport, women would rather be in the stands than in the hospital.
In spring, two of the top sports are baseball and soccer. Both sports are played worldwide, which makes watching them so much more fun! Soccer is played at such a high intensity that players collapse at least 3 or 4 times a game (not on the soccer field, of course).
Fun Facts: Do you know that a pro soccer team usally has about 4 or 5 different languages spoken, not just one like American sports. Did you know that Baseball is becoming such a popular sport in Japan that more and more players are being sent over to play on American teams? At least every team hasĀ 1 or even 2 Chinese players!
You see, sports are the thing that bring us all together. Every two years we set aside our differences for a couple of months and let our athletic skills substitute for our fighting (except the battles on the sports fields are a lot less bloodier).
Sports were made to bring out friendly competition, even if it brings out the worst in you. That is why sports are our life; they are what keep us from life and death.
Just a little sweat and friendly competition.
