"The Phenom" Vitor Belfort Makes a Phenomenal Return

On Saturday night at UFC 103, "The Phenom" Vitor Belfort made his return to the octagon a successful one. By knocking out former UFC Middleweight Champion, Rich "Ace" Franklin in the first round, Belfort has shown viewers that he is definitely back.

Now, Belfort is setting his sights on the Middleweight Division, a division that is ruled by a "Spider" in Anderson Silva.

Finishing off a fighter with the caliber of Rich Franklin in the first round is amazing. Franklin is very good fighter. The former UFC Middleweight Champion is still considered one of the top ranking fighters in MMA.

What makes this interesting is that the only fighter to take out Franklin in the first round is fellow Brazilian and current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva. Could this be a sign for what is to come?

Right now, the Middleweight division is full of fighters that has either been beaten by Silva or will soon be beaten by Silva. The guy is that good. But with the addition of Belfort and Wanderlei Silva, it will be very interesting to see just how much these fighters can shake up a division that desperately needs to be shaken up.

Hardcore MMA fans know that Anderson and Wanderlei have had classic sparring sessions that has resulted in knockouts to concussions. This being said, a match between those two would be very nice.

With Belfort, Silva will end up facing a fighter with striking power that is either as good, if not, better than his. On the ground those two would most likely cancel each other out since both are at a high level of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

This being said, a match-up between these two fighters must happen. Especially if Silva keeps steam rolling through the competition like he is doing now. Maybe Belfort has the tools to stop the UFC Juggernaut.

Well those are my thoughts, now I'd like to hear yours. Do you think that Belfort has what it takes to hold his own at 185? if so, who should be his next opponent before he gets a title shot? Until then, this is Balistik signing out.

Peace Out,
