Chandler a Valuable, Versatile Piece for Nuggets
Chandler has been a prominent piece for the Nuggets since returning to the franchise in 2012. His scoring output has steadily increased over the past three seasons, from 13.0 points per game in 2012-13 to 13.9 points per game in 2014-15.
The 2015-16 season ended before it began for Chandler, who underwent hip surgery in mid-November that kept him out the entire year.
Chandler's rise in production the previous three years came as he got increased playing time, starting a career-high 75 games in 2014-15. Per ESPN.com, his value-added ranking of 100.9 during that season was higher than Golden State's Harrison Barnes (100.7).
The Nuggets are relying on unproven point guard Emmanuel Mudiay to lead the offense, so they need any help they can get to consistently score enough points in the Western Conference.
A veteran presence like Chandler, with a strong track record of success, can help Mudiay evolve into the star he looked like as a first-round pick in 2015.
