Dion Bailey to Jets: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
The return of safety Kam Chancellor to the Seattle Seahawks lineup meant the end of Dion Bailey on the roster, but he found a new home Monday.
Randy Lange of NewYorkJets.com noted the New York Jets acquired Bailey off waivers from the Seahawks and proceeded to waive safety Ronald Martin to make room on the 53-man roster. New York also added Martin off waivers from the Seahawks back on Sept. 6, but he only saw the field as a member of special teams in the first three games.
As for Bailey, he appeared in Seattle’s first two games and started the season opener as Chancellor held out with contract concerns. The former USC Trojan originally signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent after the 2014 draft but did not play last season.

Projecting NFL Teams Most Likely to Tank for 2027 📉
Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk noted Bailey did not impress in his limited time with the Seahawks in 2015: "Bailey started the opener for Seattle in Chancellor’s place and his stumble in the fourth quarter allowed Rams tight end Lance Kendricks to get wide-open for the game-tying touchdown. St. Louis went on to win the game in overtime and Bailey was out of the starting lineup in Week 2."
Considering the Jets already have Calvin Pryor, Marcus Gilchrist and Jaiquawn Jarrett at safety, it will be difficult for Bailey to find significant playing time with his new team if he doesn’t demonstrate improvement from his performance in Seattle.
