Arsenal Transfer News: Latest on Edinson Cavani, Youri Tielemans Rumours
Edinson Cavani will reportedly force a move away from Paris Saint-Germain in the midseason transfer window, with Arsenal still apparently big admirers of the centre-forward.
Thatโs according to Fichajes (h/t Liam Corless of the Daily Mirror). Corlessย wrote that Cavaniย "will do everything he can to seal a move to Arsenal in January.โ He also noted that, while the Gunners are keen, manager Arsene Wenger was not willing to pay the ยฃ50 million valuation thatย PSG placed on the 28-year-old during the summer.
Cavani would certainly add a rumbustious new dynamic to the point of the Arsenal attack, as we can see here:

Arsenalโs striker woes have been well-documented, too. Although both Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott got on the scoresheet in the Gunnersโ win over Stoke Cityย on Saturday, itโs an area of the field in which teams like Manchester City and Chelseaย have an edge over the Emirates Stadium side.
Asย OptaJoe noted, even though Giroud did score a goal, he hasn't been prolific as of late:
Cavaniย would transform the Arsenal attack. While Wenger now has to opt for either the physicality of Giroud or the raw pace of Walcott, the Uruguayan can do it all. Heโs an adaptable option to have at the point of the team, a brilliant foil for other players andย unshakable in his work rate off the ball, too.
Itโs tough to see why PSG would let Cavani leave the club halfway through the campaign, though. As Bleacher Reportโs Jonathan Johnson noted, Cavani has started the season superbly:
"Two doubles in as many games for Cavani. Bends it into the top corner, superb effort. Confidence flowing for El Matador now. #PSGFCGB

With Zlatan Ibrahimovicโs contract set to expire next summer, it seems as though Cavani is doing all he can to secure a starting role at the Parc des Princes. At the moment, heโs playing as well as he ever has for the Parisians, with four goals in five Ligue 1 starts, per WhoScored.com, and despite the attacking talent in situ at PSG, Cavani is indispensable at this juncture.

Arsenal may have balked at the asking price this summer, but you can bet that some associated with the club are looking on at the forwardโs scintillating form with a fair share of regret.
Arsenal Chasing Youri Tielemans

According to Calcio Mercato (h/t Tom Oliver of Metro), Arsenal are hoping to sign Anderlecht starlet Youri Tielemans when the January transfer window opens.
The 18-year-old has been linked with a plethora of Europe's biggest clubs, per Oliver, showing tremendous potential at such an early age. In 2013, he became the youngest Belgian player ever to feature in the Champions League, taking to the field as a 16-year-old.
Hereโs a closer look at why there is so much hype when it comes to Tielemans:
Itโs easy to see why Wenger would be keen on Tielemans. The youngster is a multifaceted talent who is capable of carrying the ball, spreading the play with his superb range of passing and bewitching defenders with his remarkable technical traits. At the Emirates Stadium, the Belgian is the kind of player who could easily slot straight into the team.

But he has plenty of learning to do and signed a new deal with Anderlecht this summer. Bleacher Reportโs Sam Tighe was pleased to see him commit to the Belgian Pro League club:
The potential is there for Tielemans to become a world-class talent, and if he were to sign with Arsenal, he's already equipped to make a positive impression in the Premier League. But one of the key reasons behind Tielemansโ development is the regular football heโs getting with Anderlecht.
As talented as he is, Arsenalโs options are already swollen when it comes to central midfield players, meaning the teenager would get on the pitch only every now and then. One day, Tielemans could be the man to boss midfield matches for the Gunners; the best way for him to eventually scale those heights, though, would be by staying at Anderlecht and continuing to develop in the short term.
