Welcome back fans of the underdogs. This last week included some big wins(Houston) and some devastating losses (Notre Dame).

The losses by Ohio State and Oklahoma State were helpful to our hopefuls. Dropping off the radar for now as BCS busters are Notre Dame (tough loss to Michigan), Fresno State (heart breaker to Wisconsin), and Bowling Green (gut wrencher to Missouri). Added to the conversation are SMU, Hawaii, and Sourthern Miss.

Big games with big implications this week are No. 14 Georgia Tech vs No. 20 Miami, No. 10 Boise St. vs Fresno St., No. 19 Nebraska vs No. 13 Virginia Tech, Tulsa vs. No. 12 Oklahoma, and Florida St. vs No. 7 BYU.

Don't forget there is also the possibility of a major upset or two. So lets look at the teams vying to bust up the BCS.

THE CONTENDERS

BYU Cougars AP No. 7, USA Today No. 9

The Cougars did what they needed to do against Tulane. That was roll right over 'em. Next up is the Cougars first home game against Florida State. Another win against a BCS school will help BYU's cause immensely.

Boise State Broncos
AP No. 10, USA Today No. 11

Boise pounced on Miami(OH) and never relented with 48-0 win. Next up is a tough game at Fresno State. The Bulldogs will be looking to make sure everyone knows that Boise isn't the only team with game in the WAC.

TCU Horned Frogs
AP No. 15, USA Today No. 15

TCU looked good in their win over Virginia on Saturday. They dominated defensively and did what they had to on the offense, typical Gary Patterson coached team. This week should be a cakewalk for the Frogs against Texas State.

Utah Utes
AP No. 18, USA Today No. 16

The Utes looked less than impressive in their win against San Jose State, waiting until the fourth quarter to decide the game. They'll need more than that this week when they head to Eugene to take on the Oregon Ducks.

Houston Cougars
AP No. 21

The Cougars did what those other Cougars did in week one and that is break the spirits of the state of Oklahoma and stun the nation. Houston jumps into the category of contender after offing Oklahoma State 45-35. The Cougs have the week off and will spend it getting ready for Texas Tech in week four.

ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

Tulsa Golden Hurricane
Ran over New Mexico 44-10. That won't happen this week when the Cane takes on Oklahoma in week three.

SMU Mustangs
Will have a tough road as next two games are against Washington State and TCU.

Hawaii Warriors

Won at Washington State 38-20. Next up is a tough game at UNLV (just ask Oregon State).

Southern Miss Golden Eagles

Beat UCF 26-19 but up next is Virginia followed by a tough game at Kansas. Win those and they'll be contenders.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Loss at Michigan may be overcome if Michigan goes on to have a great season while the Irish win out. That is easier said than done with a game against No. 3 USC on the horizon.

Fresno State Bulldogs
Fresno lost a heartbreaker in Wisconsin after two OTs. They have a chance to save their status though with games against No. 10 Boise State and at No. 17 Cincinnati back to back in weeks three and four.

Let's all get ready for more BCS busting action in week three. This season promises to be the most exciting for the underdogs yet!
