First Thoughts: Too Close For Comfort & Signs of Things To Come

Amy LamareSep 12, 2009

Hey Football Fiends,

Any faithful Trojan fan who survived the latter years of Larry Smith as well as the regimes of Paul Hackett and John Robinson the Second Coming can have a bit of a nervous stomach when it comes to USC football.

I am certainly no exception.

I’ve seen my boys in Cardinal & Gold piss away big leads. I have not forgotten. Sure, the Pete Carroll years have been very very very very very good to us and I hope they continue to be for many many many many years. That said – today’s game had me trying to figure out which I needed to do more-vomit or hide underneath the table with my hands over my eyes while rocking back and forth.

LOL OK, so I exaggerate, but only slightly. While the physical process of watching USC at Ohio State was, quite literally painful, in retrospect I have to confess to a certain KICK ASS I AM SO STOKED style excitment.

Folks, Matt Barkley is a true freshman. All things considered, he should be wearing the Cardinal & Gold for three seasons at least. And he will only mature and get better.

Holy Crap we are going to be UNSTOPPABLE.

Here’s a great take on the game from the POV of an Ohio State fan: USC Steals Ohio State’s Soul
