Carlos Zambrano had four hits. Hunter Pence hit a pair of HRs. David Murphy (three RBI), Ramon Vazquez, Ben Francisco, Jose Vidro, Adrian Beltre, Hideki Matsui (three runs), Aramis Ramirez (three runs), Reed Johnson (four RBI), Lyle Overbay, Bengie Molina, Jimmy Rollins, Garrett Atkins, Frank Thomas, and Ryan Ludwick each had three hits.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a grand slam. Marco Scutaro had four RBI. Grady Sizemore, Robinson Cano, Shlley Duncan, Mark DeRosa, Aaron Rowand, and Chris Young each had three RBI. Mike Lamb scored four runs. The thonged ones Jason Giambi, and Mark Elli each scored three runs.
Doug Davis, in his first game back following cancer surgery, gave up one run on five hits to improve to 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA. Roy Halladay pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits with five Ks to improve to 5-5 with a 3.11 ERA. Kevn Slowey pitched six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits for his first win of the year. Andy Pettitte gave up two runs in six innings with nine Ks to improve to 4-5. Carlos Zambrano pitched seven innings, allowing two runs with six Ks to improve to 7-1 with a 2.47 ERA.
I am glad to report that Barry Zito gave up one run on three hits in six innings for his first win of the year. Doug Waechter pitched three-and-two-thirds scoreless innings of relief for the Marlins. Matt Garza, who threw seven-and-one-third scoreless innings to improve to 3-1, outdueled Jeremy Guthrie (six innings, one run). Brandon Backe gave up one run in seven-and-one-third innings with six Ks to improve to 4-5.
Joe Saunders gave up one run on three hits in eight-and-one-third innings to improve to 8-1 with a 2.31 ERA. He beat Gavin Floyd, who threw a complete game. Rich Harden gave up two runs in six innings, with eight Ks to improve to 3-0 with a 2.93 ERA. Edison Volquez gave up one run on two hits in six innings with 12 Ks in a no-decision. Shawn Estes also got a no-decision, allowing two runs in six innings. Adam Wainwright (seven innings, five hits, one run) improved to 4-2 with a 3.06 ERA, while outdueling Derek Lowe (seven innings, two runs).
