Nets Say Robinson Tore Meniscus

Tuesday, July 14

The Nets have not given a timetable for Robinson's return, though that will likely be determined following surgery. Robinson, 24, signed a two-year, $2.2 million deal in Brooklyn this offseason, which features a player option for 2016-17.

The former No. 5 overall pick is headed for his fifth franchise in four seasons. Originally drafted by the Sacramento Kings, he has also played for the Houston Rockets, the Portland Trail Blazers and the Philadelphia 76ers. He averaged 5.7 points and 5.6 rebounds per game last season, splitting his time between Portland and Philly.

While this doesn't appear to be anything of great concern, meniscus injuries tend to recur. It'll be interesting to see the extent of the damage doctors find; if they can do a full repair, he should be able to return to the floor without incident. However, a partial fix may open Robinson up to injuries in the future that could hurt his value.

Nevertheless, it's a frustrating blow for a player who could be standing on his last NBA legs.
