Alfy Hill, a 6'4'' 250-pound defensive end from West Brunswick, NC decided when it came time to pick a school that he would only settle for a place that came closest to filling his dreams.

He did just that on Wednesday morning in front of a gathering at his school. Hill took the podium dressed in dress shirt and tie. He capped his outfit off just seconds later donning a cap with the insignia of the University of Alabama.

"This decision gives me the best opportunity to realize all my dreams," said Hill. He did this in front of a room of people largely made up of North Carolina fans. Hill's final decision had come down between the Crimson Tide and the Tar Heels.

Hill became the 22nd commitment in the Alabama 2010 class.

West Brunswick coach Jimmy Fletcher believes Tide coaches intend to use Hill at their "Jack" linebacker position. Fletcher quoted coach Saban as telling him "Coach, he is raw, but he can run. He is similar to Jason Taylor in that he can stand up or play down and just use his speed to make plays."

Hill said the schools academic support system and coaching staff were also major reasons. He also believes the Tide gives him his best chance at winning a national championship and in getting prepared to play in the NFL.

Hill represents the type of defensive player Saban has been able to repeatedly sign during his tenure at Alabama. In the mold of players like D'onta Hightower and Rolando McClain, Hill will benefit greatly from the tutelage of linebackers coaches Sal Sunseri and James Willis.

Rated as the 77th best prospect overall nationwide by Rivals.com Hill projects as a linebacker or defensive end at the college level. He broke on to the scene as a junior racking up 112 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks. To go along with his size he has been timed at 4.5 in the 40-yard dash.

There were over 150 friends, family members, and fellow students in attendance to hear Hill's announcement.

Hill had been favoring North Carolina till one of his coaches offered to take him on a visit to Alabama's campus for his 18th birthday. At that point in time the Crimson Tide wasn't even being considered by Hill.

The visit changed everything. Hill fell in love with the campus. He was blown away by the University's business school as well as the athletic facilities. He left the school that weekend with a new leader at the top of his list.

Though he knew where he wanted to attend he waited until he received the blessing of his Mom before beginning preparations for his announcement.
