Lakers-Spurs: LA Takes 2-0 Series Lead to San Antonio
Game one and game two seemed polar opposites when the Lakers pounded the Spurs 101-71 on Friday night.
Unlike game one, Los Angeles never trailed. Unlike game one, Lamar Odom was fantastic.
Odom led the Laker charge as he tallied 20 points and 12 rebounds, dished out two assists, and blocked four shots.
The game was tied late in the second quarter, but Los Angeles blew it open in the second half, similar to game one.
Tim Duncan was held to just 12 points and 16 rebounds, and Tony Parker was held to 13 points and four assists.
The Spurs shot 50 percent from the free-throw line, but only 34.5 percent from the field.
Los Angeles shot 90 percent from the free-throw line, and 54.9 percent from the field.
Odom has stepped up and filled the vacancy created by the injured Andrew Bynum.
"I was feeding off my teammates," Odom said. "I was catching the ball, getting scoring position, trying to be as aggressive as possible. You know, finishing plays."
One of the Lakersā best defenders, Trevor Ariza, played for the first time on Friday night since January 20.
Ariza is a very versatile forward who can guard almost anyone. He was limited to six minutes, but he said it was great to be back.
"I only played six minutes," he said. "I haven't really been in the thick of things. It felt good to be out there, it felt good to be back on the court."
The Spurs will head back to San Antonio down 0-2 in the series.
When asked about his team's chances, Tim Duncan said, "We're confident we're a very good home team, but you hate to put yourself in a position where you're down 0-2."
Game three will be held in San Antonio on Sunday night at 8:30 p.m. EST.
