NASCAR Nation: They’re Laughing at Us!
Be warned: get ready for some boiler-plate āNASCAR is a bunch of pot-belled roustabouts going in circlesā type nonsense.
Donāt say you werenāt warned. F1 Fanatic has a post up by a guest author on the pluses and minuses of NASCAR as opposed to F1.
As I said itās pretty much laced with what stockcar fans have been hearing from āThe Continent,ā or "across The Pond" if you prefer, for years, but one comment caught my eye as being the absolute epitome of what NASCAR Nation thinks of F1 and its fans : they are being elitist bastards. Not that it is entirely true, but this nitwit serves as a fine example of one that apparently is.
Or rather thinks he is.
To set-up his remark, the discussion included one of NASCARās finer points, the accessibility of fans to its stars as compared to the F1 chauffeurs that are secreted away as if they were the Hope Diamond.
With that I give you āHaplo:ā
""I largely disagree."Why we want F1 to be accessible is beyond me.
Why we need F1 drivers to sign autographs and meddle with the common beats me.
Why we want Average Joe talking about F1 like heās an expert (hint, all nascrap fans talk like that) is well beyond any intelligent reasoning."F1 is elite. Period."
"
Honestly, I thought I set the rev-limiter on my Buffoon Meter, but itās either broken or it wasnāt set ācause this guy pegged it out.
This idiot goes on to blabber just about every patented anti-NASCAR rant under the sun but near the end he gets āinventiveā about the oh so elite athletes of F1:
"F1 guys are top athletes (why would a top athlete want to sign autographs???)."
Why do I think this guy would grovel like a crack whore for an autograph if he happened upon Lewis Hamilton, or Kimi, or Sir Jackie while walking down the street?
Anyway, if you happen to wander over that way, be nice. Donāt prove his point. Some of you might even gain an appreciation for F1 by sticking around and reading F1 Fantic. Itās one of, if not the best, blogs on the subject.
UPDATE: This Haplo character is such a nitwit I didnāt read past his first comment. Pity, because the logic he uses to defame NASCAR drivers' skill and claim how much better F1 drivers are is posted in all its delusional glory in comment #18.
He uses the example of a NASCAR vs an F1 video game and how much harder the F1 game is to support his argument.
Let me take this moment to apologize to the poor and hapless āHaplo.ā Heās not an idiot by choice, heās had a frontal lobotomy somewhere along the line.
