Stock Up, Stock Down for Mets' Top 10 Prospects for Week 12
As June nears its end, the New York Mets are now 40-37, although they have played like two completely different teams at home and on the road. They lost seven in a row on the road against the Blue Jays, Braves and Brewers before winning their final game in Milwaukee and then sweeping the Reds at home this past weekend.
Down on the farm, some of the Mets' top prospects are now on the major league roster, including Kevin Plawecki, Dilson Herrera, Noah Syndergaard and most recently, Steven Matz. The rest of the Mets' top prospects, though, are still playing in the minor leagues and hoping to join the major league ranks themselves one day.
Here are stock updates for the Mets' top 10 prospects.
10. Matt Reynolds, SS, Las Vegas 51s (Triple-A)
1 of 102015 Statistics
71 G, .270/.325/.402, 21 2B, 4 HR, 43 RBI, 22 BB, 51 R, 9 SB
Last Week's Statistics
3 G, 1/13, 1 RBI, 3 R
Overview
Matt Reynolds is currently mired in a big slump, with just five hits in his past 39 at-bats. Hopefully, he will start to hit better in the second half of the season so that he can potentially get called up to the Mets in September when the rosters expand.

Overview
Jhoan Urena has not had an at-bat since May 20. Adam Rubin of ESPN.com reported that Urena exited midway through the St. Lucie Mets' game on May 22, but according to the box score that night, Urena actually left after the first inning. No particular injury has been reported thus far, but hopefully Urena will be OK.

8. Desmond Lindsay, CF, Gulf Coast League Mets (GCL)
3 of 102015 Season Statistics
None

None
Overview
Desmond Lindsay was the Mets' second-round pick this season, and he has already signed with the Mets, according to Jim Callis of MLB.com
"2nd-rder Desmond Lindsay signs w/@Mets for $1,142,700 (full 53 slot). Florida HS OF, power/speed combo, may stay in CF. @MLBDraft
— Jim Callis (@jimcallisMLB) June 18, 2015"
If he stays with the Mets, he will likely go to Single-A Brooklyn for the rest of the year, but with a commitment already being made to North Carolina, Lindsay could still choose to go to college if he feels that he could be drafted higher later on. Lindsay played high school baseball for The Out-of-Door Academy in Sarasota, Florida. He's an outfielder with power and speed.
Lindsay's 2015 season has not begun yet.

7. Gavin Cecchini, SS, Binghamton Mets (Double-A)

Last Week's Statistics

Overview
Gavin Cecchini has cooled off recently, after getting off to a red-hot start this season. His average has fallen to .285, but he still has a respectable .340 OBP and has shown a lot of gap power with 16 doubles.
Cecchini should certainly be in the running for an Eastern League All-Star nomination this season with the numbers he has put up.

6. Dominic Smith, 1B, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
5 of 102015 Statistics
62 G, .305/.347/.427, 24 2B, 2 HR, 46 RBI, 35 R
Last Week's Statistics
7 G, 11/30, 7 RBI, 2 R
Overview
Dominic Smith has been tearing it up lately, with a .370 average and 10 doubles in June. Yes, the power still has not shown up yet for Smith, but he has been hitting the ball, and he has gotten his fair share of doubles, so that's good in itself. He has also been hitting a lot better at home (.345 average, .884 OPS) than on the road (.271 average, .680 OPS).
After a slow start, it's great to see so much improvement from Smith just two months later. Hopefully, this hot streak will continue through the second half of the year.

4. Amed Rosario, SS, St. Lucie Mets (Single-A)
7 of 102015 Statistics
73 G, .263/.306/.347, 16 2B, 0 HR, 19 RBI, 31 R, 9 SB
Last Week's Statistics
7 G, 6/28, 2 RBI, 2 R, 1 SB
Overview
Amed Rosario has struggled a bit lately and has seen his average fall to .263. He drove in two runs, scored two runs himself and stole a base this past week.
Rosario is just 19 years old, so he's still a long way from the major leagues, but if he has a big season this year, it would certainly help him move up the system quicker.

3. Michael Conforto, LF, Binghamton Mets (Double-A)

Michael Conforto did not hit particularly well this past week, but he has still put together a great season combined with Single-A St. Lucie and Double-A Binghamton. Conforto is hitting .323, with a .420 OBP, nine doubles, two home runs, 13 RBI and 14 runs scored since his promotion to Double-A.
A bad week will happen here and there, but Conforto is still having a great season this year, and he has already been invited to the 2015 MLB Futures Game, which will take place during MLB's All-Star Weekend.

1. Steven Matz, LHP, New York Mets (MLB)

14 GS, 7-4, 2.19 ERA, 31 BB, 94 K, 90.1 IP (Minor League)

1 GS, 1-0, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K, 7.2 IP (Major League)
Overview
Steven Matz's final minor league start of the season, at least for now, ended up a no-decision. Matz allowed two earned runs and five hits, walking no one and striking out eight in five innings.
But later in the week, Matz's ultimate dream became a reality as he was promoted to the Mets. He then had a major league debut for the ages. On the mound, Matz picked up his first major league win against the Reds by allowing two earned runs (both of which were solo home runs) and five hits, while walking three and striking out six in 7.2 innings.
But it was what Matz did at the plate that made his day particularly special. He had three hits in his first three at-bats, including a two-RBI double for his first major league hit.
Matz ended up driving in four of the Mets' seven runs in their win against the Reds, becoming the first pitcher to ever have three hits and four RBI in his major league debut. He also became the first Mets player to drive in four runs in his major league debut.
Matz looks to be a special talent, and it's probably safe to say that he should become a mainstay in the Mets' rotation for a long time going forward.
