Liverpool Transfer News: Latest on Carlos Tevez and Christian Benteke Rumours
Juventus striker Carlos Tevez has been offered a route back to the Premier League, but not by Liverpool.
That's according to Amy Lewis of Sky Sports, who reports the Argentinian "has also received three offers from abroad—one of which is thought to be Atletico Madrid."
Speculation continues to suggest Tevez could head back to Boca Juniors after the Copa America, calling time on his tremendous career in Europe. Sky Sport journalist Fabrizio Romano and Ed Malyon of the Mirror provided comment:

Liverpool were previously in the "driving seat" for Tevez's signature, reported by Tutto Mercato Web (h/t Colin Harvey of the Daily Star). However, Joe Rimmer of the Liverpool Echo suggests Aston Villa powerhouse Christian Benteke is now the club's "top striking target."

Rimmer believes the Reds are trying to secure a deal "for significantly less than the £32.5 million release clause in the player's contract." Villa have placed this trigger in the Belgian's deal for a reason, though, and are unlikely to budge when potentially selling their most valuable asset.
Tevez and Benteke are completely different players who could both provide a much-needed impact at Anfield. The former is a workhorse, the kind of striker who defends from the front without losing the energy to foray into the opposition's box. Tevez is wily, passionate and lethal, having racked up 27 goals across Serie A and the Champions League during the 2014-15 season.
He also played for Liverpool's bitter rivals Manchester United, which is unlikely to make him first choice for many Kop followers, despite Tevez being a smart fit for Brendan Rodgers' side. At 31 years old, now is a respectable time for Tevez to station himself back in South America, having won 13 trophies during his time in Europe.
Benteke doesn't gallop across the pitch like Tevez, but he could provide effective hold-up play for Liverpool. Rodgers' side often failed to find a man inside the box last season, and that resulted in a lack of goals, per Sky Sports:
A spearhead is needed, particularly as Daniel Sturridge continues to struggle with injuries and has been deployed from wide when fit. Benteke is dominant in the air, a physical nuisance to most centre-backs and often a tremendous finisher in front of goal.
He is also prone to bursts and droughts of confidence and scoring, highlighted by his 13 goals between March 3 and May 16, which followed a streak of no goals between Jan. 10 and March 2, per WhoScored.com.

Mirror writer David Anderson believes wantaway forward Raheem Sterling must be sold for Benteke and others to be brought in:
B/R UK's Sam Tighe recently looked at other avenues Rodgers could take:
Liverpool's 2014-15 campaign interspersed some top-quality performances with some lacklustre, unimaginative displays. Finishing in sixth place below Tottenham Hotspur—who enjoyed a 21-goal barrage from Harry Kane—suggested the Merseyside club must prioritise finding new leaders over anything else.
Tevez and Benteke both possess the quality to star in most Premier League sides and are proven in England. However, Anderson's tweet suggests Liverpool will need to sacrifice budget elsewhere to land someone of this quality. Rodgers must think carefully before making a decision that will define his future at the club.
