Many people felt that this was a trap game for the Maize 'n' Blue. I was one of those people. With all of the distactions going into week 1 for the Wolverines, the thought was that an upset was in the making. But, the feeling was that the distractions brought the already close team together. Then came the comments from Wetern's coach Bill Cubit about todays game:

"If they win, they bonded together,"... If teams lose it was a distraction."

Generally, I usually dismiss comments like those. This felt different. And all of the sudden I felt good about our team. I realized this was not another coach pulling a Dantonio (the now term I use when a coach shoots his mouth off), yet this was a coach that may have some fear of the unknown. Let's face it, Michigan until 3:30 today was a bunch of names. As of 7 p.m. tonight, Western, along with the rest of the country found out that this is a team in every sense of the word.

From the opening kick you could tell this was not the same Michigan team as last year. Sure, a year in the system helps, but there was more. Guys were flying around on defense, the offense was making plays, special teams were great. Let's be honest, Tim Hiller had a good day, but only when Michigan stopped attacking and started playing other guys.

Even better to end the day, Cubit was still in full Dantonio mode:

"Were we that overmatched? I don't think so," Cubit said. "We're just inexperienced."

Really? Michigan played two freshman QB's, both of which tore your team up. Honestly coach, come on. Inexperience got the better of your team today? Hiller is one of the top 15 QB's in the country. You had good players coming back. You are picked as one of the top teams in your conference. What happened was you got beat like a drum by a motivated Michigan football team.

To finish, Charlie Weiss, the master of preparation, was already talking up Michigan and the Big House, which was as loud as I have ever heard it. It goes to show the respect that Michigan is reearning. And to Bill Cubit, this shows what happens when you play a team that is "All In."
