Class, Champions, UFC, Great, Unbeatable
When I say those words you may think of several people, more specifically the UFC champions and even more exact than that, Anderson Silva and Georges St. Pierre. Both of these true champions both showed they are worthy and close to unbeatable. Georges is 19-2 with 8tko, 4subs, and 6 decisions while Anderson Silva is 24-4 with 15tko 4subs and 6 decisions.
But the question is, which one has cleaned out there division more and beat more worthy opponents? I feel that it is better to discuss which one is greater than let them fight, because I think Georges is the superior fighter with a better all around game, but Anderson would destroy him with the weight and height advantage he has.
Andersons notable opponents have been Forrest Griffin, Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson and Nate Marquardt, James Irvin, Chris Leben(maybe).
St. Pierres notable opponents were Matt Hughesx2, BJ Pennx2, Josh Koscheck, Jon Fitch, Thiago Alves, Jason Miller, Karo Parisyan, Frank Trigg.
When comparing these opponents I think Georges has faced tougher competition throughout his career and there is no way Anderson Silva can be ranked above Georges St. Pierre in P4P Rankings. People do say that Anderson has a undefeated record in UFC and that Georges got beat by Matt Serra and Matt Hughes, but people have forgotten the 4 losses Anderson has. Oh, you say that he was young/inexperienced and those losses were flukes. He was 29 yrs old and had 14 fights already so that is no excuse. By the way, Georges losses were some of the biggest flukes in MMA history.
Also the fact that Anderson Silva moves up in weight doesnt impress me that much. He is a natural light heavyweight and just fighting guys hes supposed to be fighting rather than starving himself for middleweight. Yes, beating Forrest Griffin was impressive, but he was just the kind of fighter Anderson could beat (a brawler that always comes forward).
In conclusion Georges St. Pierre is a better fighter in my opinion. Can you guys let me know what you think in the comments below?
