The first bet we are running with this weekend is to back Sweden to beat Hungary in Budapest.
Hungary are currently sitting in second-position in their group having picked up four wins. However, on this occasion the points on the board appear to have fudged the facts with all four victories having been chalked up against Malta and Albania. Fourth-placed Sweden, with Portugal also looking to make a late charge in the group, need to desperately pick up three points in this match to have any hope of reaching the playoffs, and with Zlatan and Marcus Berg leading the line the Scandinavians know they must win at all costs.
With Sweden 13/10 to win away from home, we are staking £2 on the Scandinavia and hoping to claim a £4.60 return.
Plumping for a second away win, we are also expecting the Czech Republic to pull their World Cup bid up by the boot-straps by claiming the points at their group leaders Slovakia.
The Czech’s are no longer the force they were during the Nedved, Berger and Poborsky heyday, but after confidently dispatching of Belgium in their last international friendly the signs are that the former European Championship finalists are better then their fifth spot currently alludes to. More importantly, if the Czechs have any hopes of making a late surge to South Africa, it has to start with a win on Saturday.
Placing a £2 on a Czech away win priced at 13/8, a winning ticket will produce a £5.25 return.
