Dwyane Wade to Join ABC's 2015 NBA Finals Coverage: Latest Details and Reaction

Mike ChiariJun 2, 2015

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade won't be playing in the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010, but the 11-time All-Star will still be part of the festivities as an ABC analyst for select games between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

According to the Associated Press (h/t Yahoo Sports), the three-time NBA champion and 2006 NBA Finals MVP will serve as part of ABC's coverage for Games 2 and 3 of the series as well as Games 6 and 7, if they are ultimately played.

Few active players are more familiar with the NBA Finals stage than D-Wade, although one of them is his former Heat teammate and current Cavaliers superstar LeBron James.

While one school of thought is that King James left Wade and Chris Bosh high and dry by signing with the Cavs this past offseason, there doesn't appear to be any hard feelings present.

After LeBron punched his ticket to the NBA Finals, Wade was among the first to offer a congratulatory message on Twitter:

Wade figures to provide an unbiased view of the series, and his expertise regarding what it takes to perform on the big stage makes him the ideal guest analyst.

The future Hall of Famer has always been engaging in interview situations, and that figures to translate to the announce desk as well.

Wade may be nearing the twilight of his career at 33, and if he excels as an analyst as expected, then perhaps his involvement with the 2015 NBA Finals will serve as a precursor to something more substantial down the line.
