The Eagles Are Too Stupid

"Ocho Cinco" is not the "playmaker" Philly is looking for. They're just not smart enough.

What the hell is all the buzz about “Ocho Cinco” going to the Philadelphia Eagles?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to go off on another rant about “Why the Eagles Suck”, but I do want to bring to everyone's attention to the fact that: “The Eagles Are Too Stupid” to sign a high caliber player such as Chad Johnson.

Not to mention, Chad would be just as stupid to think that he can play in a Philly uniform alongside one of the most overrated, self-centered quarterbacks in the league.

I guess I can’t blame the Eagles for continuing to sell newspapers and pipe dreams to their fans by making this unrealistic “Ocho Cinco” deal seem substantial.

However, it all makes sense, considering they haven’t won a single Super Bowl in their entire NFL existence. They have to sell something, because dreams are made to seem real.

The Eagles have to realize that for whatever reason, McNabb’s ego is way too big to coexist with another superstar on offense, and it doesn’t matter if they bring in a Pro-Bowl caliber playmaker, the two will not get along.

If McNabb was so good, why not just turn average receivers into superstars?

Brett Favre has managed to do it with names such as, Sterling Sharpe, Antonio Freeman, Donald Driver, and more recently, Greg Jennings. Why can’t McNabb do it?

He’s already proven that he couldn’t coexist with a superstar, and he’s proven throughout his career that he cannot turn an average receiver into a superstar. McNabb, leave the “Ocho Cinco” idea alone.

You wanted playmakers, and the front office brought in DeSean Jackson. But, if you keep crying long enoug,h maybe you can bring in Moss, Steve Smith, Terrell Owens and then you will have all the playmakers you’ve asked for.

So why are “The Eagles Too Stupid”? You figure it out!

  1. "He’s already proven that he couldn’t coexist with a superstar"

Brian Westbrook is a superstar. Just doesn't have the superstar EGO to go along with it.

  2. No agenda here at all.

  3. Wait is recovering from a serious injury the same as being egotistical? i mean he didn't tear his acl or anything. I mean i may just be speaking for myself but it seems like recovering from a torn acl while giving kevin curtis, a previous third slot reciever, the 11th player in eagles' history to have an 1000 yd season, a pretty big feat to accomplish. but hey, whatever, "The Eagles are too stupid." Too stupid to go after a pro bowl receiver, when last time they had one they got to something called the superbowl.

  4. Maybe the Eagles are stupid, but the Bengals were stupid enough not to give Johnson to the Redskins for two first round draft picks--picks they could have used to rebuild one of the worst defenses in the league. Besides, Chad Johnson will just be a distraction for the Bengals in '08. And isn't T.J. Housmenzadah good enough?

  5. This is the worst Eagles article I have read all offseason. I am not McNabb's biggest fan but whenever he is able to play the Eagles almost always win. The Eagles have had one quality WR since mcNabb has been here and we went to the Superbowl. Tom Brady had a rough year two years ago becasue he had no recievers and the Patriots replaced all of them for him (Moss, Welker & Stallworth). Why? Maybe you actually need these types pf player to win. The Eagles could of won thier division a few years ago without them because the whole division was crap, but now it is one of the toughest divisions in football, so even if the Eagles just want to make the playoffs they are probably going to have to get one of the guys they have been after. Maybe this is what it took for the Eagles to wake up. Also, McNabb is almost done so maybe that urgency hitting the Eagles. Either way I do not understand how you can say McNabb sucks. Take any of the 5 QB's in the game today, then look at thier receivers. I do not care how you rate the QB's, but I think you will see a correlation. GOOD RECEIVERS. The author is a jerk!

  6. THE BENGALS have a top 3 reciving combo, a top 5 quarter back , a great running back , and still can't win a playoff game. And further more the BROWNS damn near won the division, so go EAGLES!!!!

  7. Is this for real ????? The writer of this article, in one word, is a retard. Thats right a RETARD. Or on second thought a RETARD is even to smart to write this garbage. You better hurry and find a new job pal because this one will not last. TICK TOCK

  8. "He’s already proven that he couldn’t coexist with a superstar, and he’s proven throughout his career that he cannot turn an average receiver into a superstar. McNabb, leave the “Ocho Cinco” idea alone."

A good receiver will make a bad QB look good. A bad QB will make a great receiver look bad.
McD couldn't make TO look bad on the field, so he made TO look bad in the locker room. That's not egotistical, that's low self-esteem.

  9. Aaron, self titled the FanProphet and the author of this article, sounds like the egotistical one to me.

If McNabb was as bad as you say, Mr. Fanfag, then how on earth did the Birds make it to 3 NFC championship games and McNabb making the Pro-bowl with Pinkston, Mitchell, and Thrash as the recievers. Study up son.

  10. chad ist on the eagles

  11. Wait - are you calling Sterling Sharpe an "average receiver"? Dude, that harms the credibility of your entire article. If you don't realize that Sterling Sharpe was far greater than average, then you must be clueless about a lot of other stuff.
