Jim Palmer, analyst for the O’s on MASN, said, “The Yankees starting rotation is a wreck. Their middle relief is not good. The only thing that is good is Joba, and Mo. I can’t believe that (the Yankees) want to move Joba to start.” Jim did not know. Thus has been the heated debate over the effective role for Joba Chamberain.

BREAKING NEWS….…JOBA COMETH TO START……..IT IS OFFICIAL.

The Yankees are now transitioning Joba to the rotation, right from the 'pen. They announced it to Joba before Wednesday’s game against the Orioles, and to the public afterwards. The Yanks are skipping their plan to send him to the minors to ready himself, and opting to keep him with the Yanks instead.

Think of what could have happened had Joba gone down to lesser hitters, and gotten rocked. Not good on the ol' ego.  It would have been one big step backwards.

If the rotation is “a wreck,” and the middle relief “is not good,” then Hank has the solution. When Joba moves to be a starter (as Yankee management says), then the rotation "will not be a wreck," and "the bullpen will get a boost, too." This solution is called "killing two birds with one stone."

To begin with, many media types already disagree with the move making Joba a starter . Add to the mix Joba’s performance in the set-up role, and it is commentary chaos. Commentators opine with their rhetoric during every game on how, “The Yankees are making a mistake. Joba needs to stay in the pen.”

  1. All i can say is its about time! I grew up playing against this kid in highschool baseball, and watched him play for the University of Nebraska, and have continued watching him in the 8th inning in MLB. He is lights out. Only concern to have with him is the "Kerry Woodism". By that I mean his elbow. His slider is ridiculous, but its a lot of torque on an elbow. I hope he lasts because this kid is crazy good and a blast to watch.

And if I hear one more person say he needs to calm down and now "show off" on the mound, i'll kick them in the face with a golf shoe on. ITS THE FIRE THAT MAKES HIM SO DOMINANT! Look at Kevin Garnett in a game. He doesn't talk to anyone but himself and is almost posessed. All athletes do that.

GO JOBA! I hope he wins every start, and that the Yankees will lose every other start until the Steinbrenners are out of baseball. Hank is a jerk off!

  2. It was a pretty big debate over Joba's role. I like the move too, and welcome the fire. He is nowhere close to the "emotion" of the Mad Hungarian, not even on the same planet. Habrowski used to do it before the pitch, behing the mound tightening the ball up, the slamming it into the glove before turning to face the cowering batter. Al la Wild Thing in Major Leagues. They got that from the Mad Hungarian. You had to play against that in Nebraska, not fair.

  3. The slider did its job on Wangs arm three years ago too, but Joba has a different technique. An indication is that when he throws, it looks easy to him. Nebraska's Head coach said it looked like Joba was throwing 84 or so, until he saw the gun, and it said 96. The pro of having an easy arm is you don't have to throw it your hardest to hit 98. If you have to throw hard then it is trouble. Joba is sneeky fast though, I saw the 101 mph heater on the gun, and fell over too. It didn't look that fast to me which is a great thing for Jobas arm, shoulder; and for the Yankees. Bad news for Boston. Joba Rules!!

  4. The game is tied 1 to 1 against the Orioles in the 8th inning. Joba is sitting, as we all know...controversy. Veras is in, gives up a shot down the ** right field ** line, and SHELLEY DUNCAN jumped up, and cut it from going to the wall, blocking the given double. There is no way that Bobby Abreu makes that play. Hideki probably wouldn't have either...but he would get closer than Abreu would have. Abreu should DH, falt out. I am tracking all the Abreu defensie "miscues" this season, there are a lot of them.
