Stephen Curry Sets NBA Single-Season 3-Point Record: Highlights and Reaction
Stephen Curry continues to make his case for being considered the best shooter in the NBA and one of the greatest of all time.
The Golden State Warriors point guard hit his 273rd three-pointer of the season Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers en route to a 45-point performance. In doing so, he set the single-season record for most made threes; he was the previous record holder, per the Warriors.
Golden State celebrated Curry's achievement on Twitter:
After the game, Steve Kerr bluntly offered his thoughts on Curry (per ESPN's Ethan Strauss):
Bleacher Report's Kelly Scaletta added that the 27-year-old has single-handedly eclipsed the totals of over 300 teams since the inception of the three-point line:
The record-setting three-pointer came with a little under four-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second quarter:
ESPN's Ethan Sherwood Strauss felt that Curry didn't spend a lot of time to revel in his accomplishment:
The record-setting shot was one of six threes that Curry knocked down in the first half. ESPN Stats & Info provided his shot chart through the two quarters:
ESPN Stats & Info also noted just how good Curry's night was:
CBS Sports' Matt Moore wonders whether face-guarding the All-Star might prove a more fruitful defensive strategy down the line:
"I’m being 100% serious. Why would you not faceguard Steph? Why would you ever follow the ball?

Chris Manning, who works on the NBA 2K series, joked that Curry has been so good that he has transcended even his video-game self:
J.A. Adande of ESPN felt that Thursday's game was shaping up to be one of those nights when Curry just takes over and doesn't look back:
Curry is currently locked in a tight race with the Houston Rockets' James Harden for the 2014-15 Most Valuable Player Award. Curry's history-making Thursday night will certainly make for a strong salvo in their head-to-head battle.
Whether he takes home the MVP or not, Curry certainly owns bragging rights as the top sharpshooter in the league at the moment, and it's difficult seeing who could possibly catch him down the road.
