Well the captain lead us with distinction for the last few years. The greatest leader we had. A person you could turn up to and the one who really commanded respect on and off the field.
Luis Aragones removed the guy from Spanish team because of his leadership skills. Players gravitated towards him and consequently he felt Raul was a bad influence.
Now to Real Madrid.
Dare to speak his name in a bad tone at the Santiago? Thou shall not walk alone..
In fact you wont even walk because the Madridistas shall see to it. Ill Capitano is the biggest jewel in Real's glittering crown.
I for one love the guy very much. He is my hero.
But now people think the time has come for him to move on. At the most he has two years left now at Real by his own admission. But is this year the end of Real "Raul" Madrid?: I say an unequivocal "NO".
Galacticos 1 came and went the only guys standing were Roberto Carlos and Raul Blanco.
Raul has time and again proved his worth. He has stood up to the challenges everytime. He has held his own in the face of all odds. He struck up excellent partnerships with Morientes, Ronaldo, Van Nistelrooy and "Pipita" with Benzema waiting in the wings.
The guy conquered all through his talent and hard work. If Real is in a mess, Raul stepped forward to save the day. There shall never be one like him.
It is true that come 2011, Real will never be the same again and maybe Iker Casillas would lead the team as the main captain but the spirit of the Real Galactico of Madrid will never die. The number 7 will retire but he will live on in our hearts.
And his memory wouldn't even be tarnished by stupid Perez dumpings (read the transfer of Hierro) because as they say if there was one who could take on and demolish the president of the White House it is the bloke from Madrid called
RAUL GONZALEZ BLANCO..
