I know it's only preseason and I shouldn't get too excited by the Saints winning 2 out of 2 games but I can't help it.   I'm not necessarily excited by the fact that they've won both of the games they played, although I'm glad they won.  What I am really excited about is how good they looked doing it, particularly the game against the Texans on Saturday night.  I am extremely encouraged about how deep this team appears to be and how focused they are.  I also loved seeing the starters like Drew Brees and Jeremy Shockey on the sidelines encouraging and teaching the reserves as they came off the field.  We've never had that before.  This team looks like an actual playoff caliber team.  They almost appear that they expect to win.  I'm seeing things I've never seen in a Saints team before and it's really exciting.  I really believe they are on the right track and barring any major injuries, they could make a lot of noise in the post season.

I was looking at some of the players who are considered "on the bubble".  They actually have some players like wide receivers Rod Harper and Adrian Arrington and running back Lynell Hamilton and many others who, if they don't make the Saints  regular season roster,  are going to be playing and possibly starting for another team.  Also, they are really deep at running back and, go figure, defensive backs.   On Saturday night, we had a 3rd string offensive lineman protecting our "franchise quarterback" and he did a good job.  He only got beat twice by Mario Williams and it was his block that helped spring Mike Bell for his 46 yard touchdown run.  And speaking of Mike Bell, wow what a great game he had.   Greg Williams has done an amazing job with the defense.  With essentially the same players from last year, they look like a totally different team.  They are aggressive and opportunistic and forcing turnovers like never before.  Also, a lot of credit goes to Sean Payton and Mickey Loumis for putting the pieces in place, both players and coaches, and building a damn good football team.   I can't wait for the start of the regular season.  We have so much to look forward to.  GO SAINTS!!!!!
