Alfonso Soriano went five for five with three runs, a double, two home runs, and three RBI. Rod Barajas went two for five with two home runs (one solo and one grand slam), while Mike Lowell drove in four runs in the second game.

Freddy Sanchez, Nate McLouth, David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Russell Martin, Garrett Anderson, Ben Francisco, Ryan Braun (game one), Jimmy Rollins, Mark Grudzielanek and Jermaine Dye had three hits each.

Adam Dunn, Nick Markakis, Ryan Sweeney, Mike Jacobs and David Ortiz each had three RBI.

Erik Bedard gave up two runs in eight innings, with 10 strikeouts to improve to 3-2 with a 3.24 ERA.

Daisuke Matsuzaka allowed two unearned runs in six-and-two-thirds innings to improve to 7-0 with a 2.15 ERA.

Fauston Carmona (seven-and-one-third innings, one run) and Aaron Harrang (seven innings, one run) got locked up in a pitchers’ duel and earned no-decisions.

Hong-Chih Kuo pitched four scoreless innings of relief to improve to 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA. Brian Burres gave up two runs in six-and-two-thirds innings to even his record to 4-4 with a 3.47 ERA.

Vincente Padilla gave up two runs in seven innings, with six strikeouts to improve to 6-2 with a 3.16 ERA. A.J. Burnett allowed two runs on four hits in six-and-one-third innings, with eight strikeouts, to improve to 4-4.

Rich Harden gave up one run on four hits in seven innings, with eight strikeouts, to improve to 2-0 with a 2.91 ERA. Greg Reynolds pitched six scoreless, three-hit innings, but got stuck with a no-decision.

Armando Galarraga gave up two runs on one hit (five walks) to run his record to 3-1 with a 3.06 ERA. Max Scherzer allowed two unearned runs in five innings, lowering his ERA to 2.33, but he took the loss.

Mark Buehrle gave up one run in six-and-two-thirds innings.
