Rendon Returns to Lineup
Thursday, June 4
Kyle Brostowitz of MLB.com reported Rendon has returned to the Nationals' active roster. Dan Kolko of MASN noted he'll be batting second in the lineup against the Cubs.
Rendon had been battling multiple injuries. He injured his knee on March 25 and on March 31 was diagnosed with a sprained MCL after getting a second opinion, according to Zuckerman.
He would later be diagnosed with an oblique strain, according to Kolko.
The 24-year-old third baseman was a surprising star for the Nationals last season, as he hit .287 with 21 home runs, 83 RBI, 111 runs and 17 stolen bases. He finished fifth in the National League MVP voting and emerged as perhaps Washington's biggest threat at the plate.
