'World's Worst Football Team' Bhutan Play 1st World Cup Game...and Win
The FIFA world rankings contain 209 teams, and at the bottom of the list is the small South Asian country Bhutan.
The country joined FIFA in 2000 and once lost 20-0 to Kuwait in an Asian Cup qualifier.
However, they are unlikely to be bottom of the pile for long after a famous victory in their first World Cup qualifier on Thursday.
Bhutan won 1-0 over Sri Lanka, a team they lost to 5-2 back in 2013.
To put the achievement into perspective, Sri Lanka are ranked 173rd—a full 36 spots above Bhutan. Sri Lanka also has a population of over 20 million compared to under 800,000 for Bhutan.

Tshering Dorji got the only goal of the game in the 84th minute. He said after his goal, according to Ranga Sirilal of Reuters: "It's a very happy moment for my life. It was moment that I have been waiting for...it was a precious moment to score, and it was a perfect moment to score the goal."
It is only the fourth time that Bhutan have ever won a football match.
Their previous victories came against Afghanistan, Montserrat and Guam.
The job is not done for Bhutan yet, though, as they still have to play a second leg against the Sri Lankans at their Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu next Tuesday.
Update Tuesday March 17.
Bhutan have done it! They beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the second-leg to complete a 3-1 victory on aggregate.
