Clowney Bitten by D.J. Swearinger’s Pit Bull, Injury Isn't Serious

Tuesday, March 10

Clowney is probably going to keep his space from D.J. Swearinger’s dog at any future gatherings, as the pit bull bit him on March 4, according to SportsRadio 610 (via CBS Houston):

"

SportsRadio 610 has learned that Clowney was bitten by teammate D.J. Swearinger’s pit bull last week. Police records obtained describe a bite to Clowney’s right arm that sent him to a Pearland emergency room. The incident occurred in the early morning of March 4th.

Swearinger’s dog broke the skin on the right arm of Clowney with the bite according to the report. Further investigation by the agency indicated the dog’s vaccinations are good until early April. The bite was characterized to SportsRadio 610 by a member of the Pearland police department as a “minor bite” and no further medical information on Clowney was noted in the report.

"

The Houston Texans and Clowney have to be relieved that the injury to the 2014 No. 1 overall pick wasn't more serious. Clowney was an afterthought last season due to injuries, accumulating just seven tackles in a quarter of a season.

Clowney, 22, was expected to pair with J.J. Watt to give the Texans one of the most dominant defensive lines in the NFL. Instead, he spent most of the season on the sideline watching Watt post another incredible campaign.

Thankfully, it doesn't appear this latest incident will keep Clowney off of the field. Swearinger’s pit bull would have been the least popular dog in Houston had the injury been more severe.
