Ronaldo Says He Won't Be Making a Comeback with Fort Lauderdale Strikers

We all miss Brazilian superstar Ronaldo, so any talk of a potential comeback was bound to get people excited. 

What initially seemed like crazy talk actually began to build up some momentum when Ronaldo bought a stake in North American Soccer League side Fort Lauderdale Strikers. 

There were even quotes attributed to him from media outlet Lance! (h/t ESPN FC) which suggested he was looking to return during the NASL playoffs. 

Alas, despite his return getting its own #RonaldoVoltou hashtag (#RonaldoReturns), it does not look like it is going to happen. 

ESPN, citing Twitter and Reuters, quoted Ronaldo as saying:

There's a story going round that I am making a comeback, there's even a hashtag #RonaldoVoltou. This story about #RonaldoVoltou is just nonsense from the Twitter crowd.

"

It's sad news for everyone, but we will always have the memories.
