Jaguars Could Reportedly Take Cooper at No. 3

Tuesday, April 28

Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reported that one AFC executive believes the Jaguars will take Cooper third overall:

"

One AFC personnel man – whose team is selecting outside of the top 10 picks – claims he saw the (Blake) Bortles ruse coming a year ago, and thinks the Jaguars are primed to stun the top of the draft again.

"I think the third spot could shock people (again)," the personnel man said, referring to Jacksonville. "I think they like (Amari) Cooper more than they are letting on. You hear things and they have been pretty good about what's getting out there. It's a lot like it was last year."

Cooper Performs Well at Combine, Competition for Draft's Top WR Continues

Saturday, Feb. 21

While it's debatable whom the top receiver in this class is—some folks will prefer Cooper, while others favor Kevin White or DeVante Parker—there's no question that Cooper is in the conversation. After catching 124 passes for 1,727 yards and 16 touchdowns this past season and being a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, Cooper entered the conversation as a potential top-10 pick.

Cooper put up impressive numbers at the combine, running a 4.42 40-yard dash and asserting himself as a top-notch athlete in this year's deep wide receiver class:

West Virginia's Kevin White is widely viewed as Cooper's toughest competition. Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle provided NFL Network's Mike Mayock's take on the two wide receivers:

While Cooper isn't the biggest receiver out there at 6'1" and 210 pounds, he's an excellent route-runner who is excellent with the ball in the air, possesses elite agility and has the rare ability to come up with a big play in the clutch.

Just ask Auburn's secondary, whom he torched for 13 receptions for 224 yards and three touchdowns with a spot in the SEC title game.

Bleacher Report's Matt Bowen weighed in on Cooper's credentials potentially making him a top-10 pick in the draft:

Cooper looks like the real deal at the next level, though it remains to be seen where he'll be selected. It's hard to imagine he would drop anywhere below the first 15 picks, however, even if he isn't the top receiver on the board.

One thing is for certain—the rumors about which teams are interested and where he might be selected will only continue to heat up as the draft approaches.
