Sports Tattoos Fans Regretted the Next Morning
Getting a tattoo shouldn't be a decision that's taken lightly.
Sure, we can all have a good laugh at those guys who get butt tats with their college buddies, knowing that few people will ever actually see them.
But for those who have them on full display on arms, legs and, yes, even heads, beware that your ink will be judged if it's something completely insane.
Unfortunately, some sports fans just don't give a damn, as they've gotten a few pieces that are permanently on their bodies that are absolutely regrettable—and these are some of the worst.
The LeBron James and Kevin Love Tattoo
1 of 14
As a Cleveland born-and-bred sports fan, I was stoked when the Cavaliers landed three-time NBA All-Star Kevin Love to pair with LeBron James, who announced his return home this past offseason.
Was I about to go get a tattoo to celebrate it, though? Nope.
However, some kid named Nick Grossman did, getting the two players on both of his shoulder blades and making me wonder if the artist used Clip Art or actually designed those images himself.
While the Cavs are playing great as of late, this is a tat that Nick shouldn't be too fond of.
The Dallas Cowboys World Champs Tattoo
2 of 14Other than the players and coaches standing on the Dallas Cowboys sideline, there probably wasn't anyone more heartbroken than one Dallas fan following the ruling that the team's wide receiver, Dez Bryant, had not controlled a catch during this year's playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Sure, Derek was mad his team lost in such bogus fashion, but, seeing how he already had a tattoo declaring the Cowboys were World Champs, his next thought might have been the crap he'll be getting for the rest of his life since it didn't happen.
The Tim Tebow Centaur Tattoo
3 of 14
Unfortunately, I don't have an image that I can show you of this miserable decision by Juan Contreras, but here's a link to a tattoo of former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, who became a savior for Denver Broncos fans back in 2011.
Well, that is until the team got Peyton Manning to lead their offense.
After losing a bet, Contreras was forced to get Tebow emulated as the mythical creature, centaur, which will probably make him rethink ever making a wager in his life again.
The New York Yankees Tooth Tattoo
4 of 14The winningest franchise in American sports, the New York Yankees have shown to have some of the most passionate fans, too.
Other than packing Yankee Stadium and wearing their pinstripes around, at least one Yanks supporter wanted to take things next level by getting the famed logo tatted somewhere that's really memorable—his tooth!
That's a pretty weird spot to show your team some love, bro.
The Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson Tattoos
5 of 14Getting your favorite athlete's face tatted on your body is always a bold choice.
In addition to the risk that the player may leave through free agency or by trade, there's the fact that, oh yeah, you have another human being's face inked on you for the rest of your life.
Yet one Los Angeles Lakers diehard fan didn't seem to care about any repercussions, as he got some incredibly lifelike pieces done to honor his favorite Lakers greats, Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson.
The Clint Dempsey Tattoo
6 of 14
American soccer player Clint Dempsey is, arguably, the most popular star on the U.S. men's national team.
For that reason, to celebrate Dempsey playing for the Seattle Sounders, one Sounders fan wanted to dedicate a special place for the soccer player—behind his left ear.
A Seattle man got the face of Dempsey and some cleats tatted there, giving a new meaning to what a header looks like in soccer.
The Detroit Lions 0-16 Tattoo
7 of 14The whole purpose of playing sports is to win, not lose.
As difficult as it is for fans to cope with their favorite team losing, the last thing you would think someone would do is actually celebrate doing it at a historic pace, right?
You would be wrong, because one Detroit Lions fan named Dan proudly walks around with a 2008 0-16 Detroit Lions tattoo on his chest, honoring the worst team in NFL history without much shame.
I guess it could be worse. He could be the Lions fan who got "2015 Super Bowl Champs" inked on himself.
The New England Patriots Lego Tattoo
8 of 14I'll go ahead and applaud this New England Patriots fan for the creativity of mixing two of his favorite things together into one tattoo—the Pats and Legos.
But that's not to say I agree with the decision.
Honoring the now four-time Super Bowl champs a couple of years ago, this guy had some of his favorites inked on him for good, like head coach Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Tedy Bruschi and Wes Welker—who currently plays for the Denver Broncos.
Going with something different would have been a much wiser decision.
The Kentucky Wildcats National Champions Tattoo
9 of 14
This guy was just oh-so-close, wasn't he?
When Kentucky Wildcats hoops fan Tyler Austin Black first got his ink declaring a national title for Big Blue Nation, many wondered if he was crazy or just plain stupid.
But, after the Wildcats made an improbable run to the national title game as a No. 8 seed, the 22-year-old's proclamation nearly came true.
Unfortunately, the Cats lost 60-54 to the UConn Huskies, leaving Tyler with the dubious decision of keeping his ink or getting it removed—of course he decided to keep it, though.
The Oregon Ducks 'Ducknut' Tattoo
10 of 14
The Oregon Ducks football team has been one of the most accomplished teams on the college gridiron over the past five seasons.
With a high-octane offense, the Ducks have gone 60-8 over that span, reaching two national titles and showing off some serious uniform style in the process.
One Ducks fan, though, doesn't have quite the same style as the team's uniform designers, as he got this hideous tat on his arm to show his pride.
The Back-to-Back Champions Seattle Seahawks Tattoo
11 of 14If there's one thing that we all know to be true about sports, it's that no one can ever predict the future—try as we all might.
As a few of these other tattoos have shown, though, diehard fans don't care about that, as they'll go out on a limb to get some ink that declares a title before a season even begins.
While a Seattle Seahawks fan known as "OC" was confident in his team's chances of earning their second straight Lombardi Trophy this season, he didn't exactly see the whole pass from the one-yard line with 25 seconds left thing coming, making his tat one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense—even if he is keeping it for the rest of his life.
The Francesco Totti Selfie Celebration Tattoo
12 of 14There are some iconic poses in sports.
The Air Jordan logo. The Tiger Woods fist pump. The Heisman Trophy stiff-arm.
Notice that none of those are the Francesco Totti selfie celebration that the Italian player did during a match against Lazio, which one fan thought was so iconic that he would get it tatted on himself.
For so many reasons, this is just miserable. Kids, please don't follow suit.
The Andy Murray Wimbledon Champion Tattoo
13 of 14There are some ugly tattoos and then there is this one—a portrait of British tennis champ Andy Murray winning Wimbledon in 2013.
After Murray became the first British winner of the men's singles title since Fred Perry in 1936, a fan by the name of William Hirons was forced to pay up on a bet he had made, getting the tennis player holding his trophy on his left buttcheek.
Needless to say, ol' William has a real pain on his ass.
The Super Bowl Shark Tattoo
14 of 14So why does the Super Bowl shark from this year's game sit alone as the most regrettable tattoo that a sports fan has ever had? For one simple reason—it has nothing to do with sports, per se.
These other pieces of ink are pretty heinous and, in some cases, really premature, but the Super Bowl shark was nothing more than a prop during the biggest sporting event on the planet who became a hit the next day for his, uh, dancing.
The story of why the dude got it is pretty entertaining, though, so he has that working for him.
