Jacoby Ellsbury, Jerry Hairston, Juan Pierre (3 RBI), Kosuke Fukudome, Troy Glaus, Cesar Izturis, Todd Helton, and Miguel Tejada each collected 3 Hits. Jay Payton and Carlos Quentin each hit Grand Slams and finished with 5 RBI. Matt Stairs also hit a Grand Slam. Brian McCann, Cody Ross, Tadahito Iguchi, Alfonso Soriano, and Geovany Soto each picked up 3 RBI.
C.C. Sabathia fired a Complete Game five-hit Shutout with 11 Ks. Kudos to you if you snagged him from an impatient owner. Carlos Silva allowed 2 Runs in a 6 Inning no-decision. Scott Feldman also got a no-decison despite allowing1 Earned Run in 7 Innings. Jon Lester gave up 2 Runs in 6 Innings for a no-decision. Bronson Arroyo fired 7 scoreless Innings in a no-decision. Tim Redding gave up 1 Run on 2 Hits to improve to 5-3 with a 3.55 ERA. Claudio Vargas gave up 2 Runs on 3 Hits with 6 Ks, but took the Loss. Mike Mussina improved to 6-3 after giving up just 1 Run in 6-1/3 Innings. James Shields gave u 2 Runs in 7 Innings with 6 Ks, but took the Loss. Manny Parra allowed 1 Earned Run in 6-2/3 Innings, but got a no-decision. Ted Lilly gave up 4 Runs in 6 Innings, but picked up the Win while striking out 11. Justin Verlander gave up 2 Runs in 6 Innings, but still fell to 1-7. Luke Hochevar blanked Detroit for 6 Innings to improve to 3-2. Todd Wellemeyer cruised for 7 Innings giving up just 1 Run on 2 Hits to improve to 4-1 with a 3.27 ERA. Micah Owings didn’t hit well, but he did throw 6 scoreless Innings to improve to 5-1. John Lackey returned for a no-decision despite giving up 1 Run in 7 Innings. Jose Contreras got the Win by matching Lackey with 7 Innings of one-run ball himself.
