This Pic of Derrick Rose Shoveling Snow Around His Bentley Gives Mankind Hope
UPDATE: Monday, February 2.
So, it's come to my attention that this picture has been around for several weeks.
Bulls beat writer Adam Howe initially tweeted the image of Rose shoveling snow in mid-January, meaning he was shoveling out of last month's snow-nado.
My mistake. It remains an awesome picture, of course.
---End of update---
If the Midwest is currently Hoth, Chicago is the Rebel outpost where everyone is battling cave yetis and actively questioning every life choice that led to the decision to move to this ornery, frozen hellscape.
I say this confidently because I am in Chicago, where over 19 inches of school cancellation and anarchy fell Sunday and brought the city to a grinding halt.
Everyone—rich, poor and otherwise—has spent the last 36 hours dealing with all manner of blizzard-related misery, which includes—but is not limited to—shoveling snow, brushing snow and pressing your middle finger to the window as Mother Nature spits forth sheet after sheet of future manual labor.
Judging by a recently uploaded picture, Derrick Rose endeavored in at least two of the aforementioned activities Monday afternoon.
Another Twitter user tweeted out jacked an image from Adam Howe of the Chicago Bulls point guard communing in the time-honored tradition of numbly shoveling the snow from around his Bentley (we all have Bentleys).
Based on the surrounding area, I'd guess Rose had probably been at this task for a while. The snow fell heavily enough in the city to engulf entire cars, which leads me to believe it was early in the morning when Rose crawled from the belly of his Tauntaun and went to work clearing that lot.
It's a comforting sight, in a weird way, to see Rose going through the joyless winter motions of the everyday commuter—a reminder that there are certain immutable elements in life that favor no man by fortune or status.
Famous people: Nature hates them too.
Dan is on Twitter and trying to avoid death by exposure.
