I Have Drank The Kool-Aid

Last year I was very skeptical as the season kick-off against Clemson approached.  Twelve games later I was smiling so big that I did not have to say a word!  Everyone wants to write about the last two games; I choose to focus on the first ten.

Before the season Alabama was picked 3rd in the West and a 9 win season would have been spectacular.  The foundation was being laid each week.  No, there was nothing flashy but the team learned how to win.

Yes Florida beat us in Atlanta.  But going into the fourth quarter do you really think the Gators were comfortable.  Take a stupid fake field goal attempt and Arenas trying to get on Sports Center with a return; we go down to the wire. 

Anyway, 2009 is now among us.  If you want to talk about Utah beating us let me ask you this.  Does anyone recall that Louisville beat Alabama in the Fiesta Bowl during Gene Stallings second year?  No, instead it is remembered that Alabama won the 1992 national championship the following year.

Alabama will win with defense, period.  Greg McElroy will not lose ballgames and we will run left, run right and we have a pretty good receiver with JJ.  Special teams will be even better because we now have depth, i.e. Freshman to fill those slots.

If an upper classman does stumble, Coach Saban will not be afraid to plug a Freshman in.  As I remember he has not had that problem yet. 

So buckle up, the best time of the year is getting close.  Man, I love this time of year.  Prediction; we face Florida again in Atlanta for a chance to play for national championship.
