Arsenal Transfer News: Major Deals Targeted by Arsene Wenger in Fresh Rumours
Arsenal could be on the verge of providing additions to their squad with rumours surrounding the possible acquisitions of Mexico international Hector Moreno and Juventus forward Sebastian Giovinco.
Jamie Anderson of the Express writes both players are on Arsene Wenger's radar as the French coach looks to swell his numbers in the pursuit of silverware.
Anderson says the experienced Moreno could be available for as little as £6 million from Espanyol, with Manchester United and Tottenham both closely monitoring the centre-back's situation in Spain.

The player's agent, Eduardo Hernandez, recently confirmed Moreno's desire to exit his team in the near future, per David Wright of the Express:
"Moreno is leaving Espanyol. He wants to leave and we're looking for another team in Europe."

However, Giovinco's agent Andrea D’Amico has poured cold water on a January move to the Gunners, saying his client will revisit his options in the summer, per Anderson:
"Sebastian is a Juventus player. He won't move in this transfer window, then we'll see in June."
Moreno is vastly experienced and has been a target for Spurs as they look to strengthen their options.
John Cross of the Mirror previously wrote about Moreno's connections to Mauricio Pochettino—who managed Espanyol between 2009 and 2012.
Moreno was the Spurs' coach's Player of the Season in 2011, scoring three times in his 35 appearances that year, per Cross.

However, Moreno's involvement in the first team at the Catalan club has been limited this season after the defender spent time recovering from a broken leg.
Louis van Gaal has also previously managed Moreno during their time together at AZ Alkmaar, giving the United boss an advantage over Wenger if negotiations and a bidding war proceed.
But ESPNFC's Tom Marshall believes Arsenal should now chase Moreno hard, advocating a transfer for the defender to north London:
However, Giovinco would be a much more difficult target for Wenger to capture if he decides to court the diminutive forward.
Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri recently was strong in his assessment of the player's availability whilst speaking to the Old Lady's official website, per Stefan Coerts of Goal.com, after Giovinco scored twice in his side's 6-1 Coppa Italia win over Verona:
"Giovinco has never been up for sale. There's always plenty of talk, but he's never expressed a desire to leave. We have good players to develop. If we don't find anyone capable of improving the squad we'll blood the youngsters we have.
"
Despite Allegri's assertions, rumours have been sparked by the 27-year-old's lack of playing time in the first team.
He has only managed to start two games in Serie A this term and appeared four times from the bench, per WhoScored.com.
Now entering the prime years of his career, the Italian international will surely not want to spend time warming the Turin bench—and a move to Arsenal would definitely tempt the player.

Moreno and Giovinco would both be very affordable captures for Wenger if the Frenchman is able to convince the players to join his squad.
Giovinco is a good player with a strong reputation—but the signing of Moreno would be a much more essential transfer for the Gunners.
He has the proven quality Arsenal need at the back as Wenger's team continues to suffer with injuries and fluctuating defensive performances.
The £6 million price is a bargain for a player once rated as one of La Liga's best centre-backs, and he would boost Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top four.
Moreno would be a significant upgrade on Wenger's current centre-backs if he can once again find his best form after injury, but at the price quoted—he would be a signing with little risk attached.
