A Week Without the Kansas City Chiefs: When You Know You Are a Fan

KANSAS CITY, MO - OCTOBER 01: A fan displays the football present to him by Dante Hall #82 of the Kansas City Chiefs after he returned a punt 60 yards against the San Francisco 49ers for a fourth quarter touchdown and the score of the game as the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 41-0 during week four NFL action on October 1, 2006 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. I admit it...fine!  I have a problem.

Not exactly connected to the wireless world, I spent the last week on vacation void of internet access, having only the lame excuse of sports coverage called ESPN to follow each night.  No, not even NFL Live gives much of a sniff to a football addict's appetite.

It seems unless you are following the Yankees or Red Sox in baseball, or the Cowboys or Patriots in football, there just isn't much time for you.

So...here I am glued to the computer, sifting through archives on what I've missed as I spent the last week relaxing in the pool with thoughts of footballs and snot bubbles dancing in my head.

I missed the first week of Chiefs training camp, not to mention the signing of Amani Toomer and Tyson Jackson, as I blissfully watched my 6-year-old blaze around the go-cart track, dreaming of the smells and sights of opening day tail gating.

What the hell is wrong with me?

As my wife would be quick to chime in with a dozen answers, I've come to my conclusion.

Nothing.

I'm a Chiefs fan.  And it's football season.

So glad to be back.

Go Chiefs!
