Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, Cesaro and More from the Internet Wrestling Mailbag
Daniel Bryan's announced return injected life into the Royal Rumble picture. Suddenly, Roman Reigns isn't nearly the runaway favorite he was last week. This must be how the Detroit Lions felt after Ndamukong Suh was reinstated.
"@ThisIsNasty Do you expect Daniel Bryan to feud with the Authority again? #TheBeardIsBack
— Kurtis Galloway (@KJG524) December 30, 2014"
Bryan should feud with The Authority at some point before or during WrestleMania. Last year, fans rebelled because the powers that be continued to give him the short end of the stick. The Authority personified Bryan's true enemy, and that's why it worked.

If WWE didn't want Daniel Bryan to be a top guy last year, its feelings won't change with Bryan coming off a very serious injury. Instead of a WrestleMania main event, Bryan could work with Seth Rollins to rehash his feud with The Authority.
Rollins currently doesn't have a path to WrestleMania. He worked with Ambrose. On Raw, he faced Roman Reigns on free television. He's already feuding with Cena.
Bryan is one of the few novel opponents who makes sense. Most importantly, Rollins vs. Bryan silences the meta-"Yes!" Movement crowd. After all, they'd get Ring of Honor alumni in a WrestleMania match.
"@ThisIsNasty any possibility of shoe-horning Ziggler into a main event WM slot with Daniel Bryan?
— The Big E (@ethan_metzger) December 31, 2014"
Not likely. Ziggler settled right back into the upper midcard after a false alarm in November. If that Survivor Series win didn't keep him in the main event picture, nothing will.
Fans seem content with Ziggler putting on good matches and carrying the Intercontinental Championship. Best-case scenario, he restores the workhorse reputation to that title.
Ziggler is in a similar position as Rollins in terms of not having a clear-cut opponent at WrestleMania. The difference is Rollins—currently a top heel—is almost guaranteed to have a singles match at WrestleMania. Ziggler should be happy if he wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
Ziggler in the WrestleMania main event will take a whole lot of hijacking. As long as he remains Intercontinental Champion, his fanbase will leave well enough alone.
"@ThisIsNasty SN: Will Cesaro be the modern age Lance Storm? Any chance a face turn with a manager to increase his buy in ability?
— Coach Solomon (@Oasis3457) December 30, 2014"
If anything good happens with Cesaro, it will come with the assistance of a manager. The only limited success he had came under Zeb Colter. Cesaro is a one-dimensional character who can't deliver a convincing promo even when it's based on real life.
Monday on Raw, WWE gave several talents a chance to speak, seemingly from the heart. Ryback knocked it out of the park. Cesaro? Not so much.
"He said there is nobody in WWE who can hold a candle to him when he steps into those four ropes. He paused and corrected himself: 'Four sides.'" (h/t PWTorch's Wade Keller.)
A staple of the Internet Wrestling Community is to blame WWE Creative when things don't work out for their favorites. If Jack Swagger flames out, few will shed a tear. If and when Cesaro does, WWE "dropped the ball." But it's Cesaro who needs to light a fire under WWE officials with these golden opportunities to let loose.
Instead, he flubbed.
Cesaro's glaring lapses in charisma are holding him back, not some UConn creative writing graduate in Stamford. The Lance Storm comparison is quite fitting.
