Top Prospect, Ryan Perrilloux, Has Been Here Before

Ryan Perriloux has been the nation's top college football prospect before. Two years ago, Perrilloux was the nation's most highly touted quarterback from East St. John High School in Reserve, La.

His obvious choice was to attend LSU in his home state. LSU head coach Les Miles dismissed Perriloux from the team in mid-February.

Since then, Football Championship Subdivision schools have been hot on his trail. 

Yesterday, Perrilloux visited FCS school Jacksonville State in Alabama. The Gamecocks head coach Jack Crowe says that while he is pursuing quarterback, Jacksonville State will not compromise the program's integrity to sign a football player.

However, when Perrilloux left Jacksonville, the star player left with a scholarship offer in hand.

Alabama A&M, Alabama State, and Jackson State have all shown much interest in the player.

Of those schools, Jacksonville State is the only school that would be eligible to play for an FCS championship, as teams from the Southwest Athletic Conference do not participate in FCS playoffs.

Not to mention, Jacksonville State went through spring drills without a quarterback on scholarship after dismissing Cedric Johnson, a Troy transfer.

With a great resume, including an MVP performance in the 2007 SEC Championship game and a national championship already, who wouldn't want to sign a quarterback of this caliber?

However, Perrilloux comes with baggage. That's why the star is looking for a place to play.

After three suspensions from the LSU squad and dismissal, maybe there is some reason to back up the suspicion that he could be a cancer. But doesn't every player deserve a second chance?

Even a player that attempted to enter a casino with a fake I.D.?  But hasn't every kid tried something like that before? I know I have.

But what about missing team meetings, skipping class, and being late for workouts? That's the kind of thing that kids do when they think they are too good for where they are.

Will the dismissal from LSU humble Perrilloux, or will the courtship of colleges just like when he was the great quarterback out of high school make him feel like he's better than the FCS?

If he wants to play anywhere besides the Arena Football League, Perrilloux must find a way to make this second chance work to his advantage.
