Bleacher Report: Do They Employ This Man?

"There was of course no way of knowing whether you were being watched at any given moment. How often, or on what system, the Thought Police plugged in on any individual wire was guesswork. It was even conceivable that they watched everybody all the time. But at any rate they could plug in your wire whenever they wanted to. You had to live—did live, from habit that became instinct—in the assumption that every sound you made was overheard, and, except in darkness, every movement scrutinized."

Gearoge Orwell from the book 1984

For those of you that attended public school post 1990 this picture is of Joseph Goebbels. Head of propaganda for the Nazi party during the Hitler regime.

Though he was not known to be directly involved with the killing of any of the millions slaughtered he was most certainly guilty of protecting it via speech control.

Something that seems to happen on Bleacher Report occasionally.

I honestly don't know if it is a policy of the site or if it is simply those with access to controls that use their own views to "police" what they don't like.

I personally have suffered from this. I readily admit there is no right to free speech in this setting. In fact it saddens me that so many of our youth have no idea what that actually means. (For you kids it simply means our government is not allowed to control your speech, but a private site like this is certainly allowed to, though usually frowned upon in our society.)

I have asked for reasons to their speech control with no response to date, and I suspect I will get none or something very vague. I most certainly doubt I will get to know who actually removed one of my posts.

Ah the post in question, a response to an article written by someone on this site. My comment was certainly not offensive nor outside the guidelines of this site. Yet within minutes to an hour it had vanished. Scrubbed clean from the board.

You can link to it on my homepage for this site, but you will be taken on a goose chase since it is gone from the comment section of the article.

(Now it should be noted I have made couple of more comments and the author was very kind to respond to my concern. However these are not the comment that was scrubbed.)

Censorship is one of the most dangerous things a free society can face. It is not to be tolerated even on a site like this.

I hope others feel the same way, and I hope Bleacher Report will explain why my comment was removed, who removed it, and what they will do in the future to make sure it's not a stealth move like this one. (I bet whomever did it thought it wouldn't be noticed.)

Shame on you Bleacher Report.

(This just in 11:50 PM Eastern, while posting links to this article on the note page of people I happen to respect on this site the times viewed dropped from 5 down to 3. Hmmm, that's weird. Why would it go down. Granted it wasn't a high number to begin with since I just posted the article, but why the drop?)
